Oscar-winning actress Olivia Colman has been announced as the latest high-profile star joining the cast for the sixth series of Only Murders In The Building.

The 52-year-old will feature in the upcoming run of the hit US crime comedy, which follows a trio of amateur sleuths producing a podcast about homicides inside their luxury New York apartment complex.

Relocating to London for the first time, the new season features a host of prominent British names, including Sir Derek Jacobi, Martin Freeman, Geri Halliwell-Horner and Jamie Demetriou.

Colman’s role was revealed on Tuesday through a clip published on the show’s official Instagram account.

The video features Selena Gomez, who plays Mabel Mora in the Emmy-winning series, standing alongside Hollywood star Meryl Streep.

Streep, who portrays quirky actor Loretta Durkin in the series, adds: “Yeah, but we’re just missing one.”

Canadian actor and comedian Martin Short, who completes the main detective group alongside Steve Martin and Gomez, playfully interrupts the recording to say “this is so exciting”.

The cast then introduce their newest colleague Colman, who is seen smiling and curtsying in a brown maxi dress.
