Key Fifa member leaves role weeks after Infantino criticism
- Kevin Lamour has left his role as FIFA chief operating officer following his public criticism of FIFA president Gianni Infantino.
- Lamour accused Infantino of deceiving staff over the FIFA Forward Enterprise proposal, calling it the project of one person.
- The former chief operating officer voted against the proposal during a meeting on 18 July, prior to the World Cup final.
- In a statement to the Associated Press on 31 July, Lamour admitted he was prepared to lose his job for speaking out against the leadership.
- FIFA secretary general Mattias Grafstrom confirmed Lamour’s departure in an email to staff and reportedly conducted the final discussion with him.
