EastEnders fans have a new theory about who the pregnant woman in Max Branning’s bed is at New Year – and why she keeps her pregnancy a secret from the real dad, Oscar Branning.
Since the New Year’s Day flashforward, when Max was seen in bed with a mystery pregnant woman, fans have been desperate to know who this woman is. Names mentioned so far – Chelsea Fox, Priya Nandra-Hart, Stacey Slater – have largely been those who have had chemistry with Max, as it has so far been accepted that he will be the father.
But, in a new theory, some have suggested that the real father is his son Oscar, and the pregnant woman herself is his girlfriend Jasmine Fisher.

One fan said: “Jas is very much the pregnant woman in Max’s bed but the baby is Oscar’s.” Another added that this made sense given the “vibe” they got from the brief interactions between Max and the woman.
They said: “The vibes from the woman in the bed just gives friends, they don’t sleep in a loving way and the knock before peaking in the shower it’s all very innocent.” A third added: “Max would obviously care about her since she’s pregnant with his grandchild.”
Some pointed out that they weren’t sure why Max would be so worried about someone finding the pregnant woman if it were Jasmine, but others suggested that when Jasmine finds out Oscar slept with her brother Josh Goodwin, she might run away without telling him she’s pregnant.
“Considering it’s all about to come to head soon and she will figure it out or see something…,” one fan wrote. “Whenever she hurts she hurts others so yeah it’s understandable if she leaves she runs away a lot and yes she has her mom and co but loosing to her twin like she has her whole life could tip her over the edge again.”

In the latest EastEnders episode (13 May), scenes were aired that proved to some fans that Jasmine was “looking for any excuse to kick off”. During the episode, Jasmine learned that the woman who Josh gave money to after she tried to steal his bag, was now trying to take money off of Harvey Monroe too.
She then grabbed the woman’s carrier bag and started shouting to the Square about how the woman was a thief, despite Oscar’s pleas to leave it alone.
One fan remarked: “Jasmine hasn’t changed one single bit. She’s just looking for any excuse to kick off. When she finds out about Oscar and her twin brother she’s going to burn Walford to the ground.”

Chelsea Fox has been among the other names mentioned as potential pregnant ladies – but fans now think she could be Max’s bride. Though Max is currently in a relationship with Cindy Beale, fans wondered if he might be set to marry Chelsea instead, especially after it was revealed that her current husband, Gray Atkins, may be coming back to the Square.
According to RadioTimes, Gray is returning and his actor, Toby Alexander-Smith, has been filming scenes. Following the news, one fan said: “Chelsea’s still married to him, she needs to get a divorce to be a potential bride on NYD 2027.”
