Major airline fails to offer alternative to passenger after cancelling UK-bound flight

Lufthansa has cancelled over 20,000 flights for the summer, primarily through its regional subsidiary CityLine, making it the European carrier with the most cancellations.
A Scottish passenger, Rhona Taylor, had her return flight from Frankfurt to Glasgow cancelled and was only offered a refund or postponement, not an alternative flight.
Lufthansa stated that an alternative was not available for all sections of her journey, claiming re-routing without an alternative is only for situations where no reasonable option exists within the Lufthansa Group.
This stance contradicts UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) interpretation of air passenger rights, which mandates offering re-routing options, including on other airlines or from nearby airports.
Separately, British Airways initially failed to offer re-routing options to passengers whose Heathrow-Jeddah flight was cancelled, only providing alternatives after The Independent‘s intervention.
