Transfer: ‘I don’t have enough players’ – Carrick sends message to Man United board

Manchester United manager, Michael Carrick, has called on the club’s board to sign additional players before the summer transfer window closes.

Carrick assumed the position of interim head coach after the club opted to part ways with Ruben Amorim due to a challenging start to the 2025-26 season.

The former Manchester United midfielder managed to stabilize the team, leading the Red Devils to secure a spot in this season’s UEFA Champions League. 

In recognition of his achievements, Carrick was subsequently appointed as the permanent head coach.

As the new season approaches, Carrick has urged the club to enhance their squad by signing more players, adding that the team must strive to compete on all fronts, and additional signings could significantly contribute to that goal.

In an interview with BBC Sport, he stated, “We want more, we need more, we keep looking for how we can do that, money’s money, I understand that. We believe we must strive for success in every competition we participate in, while remaining realistic about our recent history over time.

“For now, we must maximize our current situation, but we need to push every limit possible to achieve victory again, essentially. That is the challenge.”

The Red Devils have secured the signings of two first-team midfielders.

They acquired Andrey Santos from Chelsea and Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa to fill the void left by Casemiro who departed the club as a free agent.

Additionally, the club signed Karl Darlow as a backup for Senne Lammens after loaning Altay Bayindir to Celta Vigo.

Recent reports indicate that the club are pursuing left-back, Lewis Hall from Newcastle. They are also reportedly interested in Aurelien Tchouameni from Real Madrid, although no progress has been made in that regard.
