Call for witnesses to alleged Cwmbran assault after 102-year-old dies

- A 102-year-old man named Phillip Ormerod has died in hospital following an alleged assault at a pub in South Wales.
- Emergency services were called to the Crow’s Nest pub in Cwmbran around 10.25pm on 1 August.
- A 56-year-old man from Llanelli has been arrested on suspicion of section 20 assault and remains under investigation.
- Gwent Police are appealing for witnesses who were inside the pub between 10pm and 11pm on the night of the incident to come forward.
- Mr Ormerod’s son Robert Ormerod said that the 102-year-old was a “pub character” who had been diagnosed with dementia.
