An exit has been confirmed with new details revealed by Coronation Street boss Kate Brooks.
It was previously reported that actress Claire Sweeney was leaving the role of Cassie Plummer after three years, amid a new role. While an insider confirmed to The Mirror that Claire was leaving the show, nothing else was confirmed at the time.
Now, Kate has told The Mirror and other press more about Cassie’s exit. Tyrone Dobbs’ mother, who debuted in 2023, will leave the cobbles in “explosive” scenes.
It’s said to be a “massive” storyline, and is tied in to the arrival of a new character linked to Cassie. It’s been revealed that Cassie’s ex and Tyrone’s father will head to Weatherfield with “twists and turns” aplenty, as well as lots of drama on the way.

Fans had questioned who Tyrone’s dad was once they found out about his mother Cassie. Now, Tyrone will come face-to-face with his father, and Cassie will be reunited with her ex.
Some way or another it will tie in with her departure, while specific details about how she leaves and when remains to be shared. Kate told us recently: “Tyrone’s dad makes an appearance in the show.
“Needless to say, he comes with quite a bit of drama, and it’s going to cause quite a lot of friction within that family, obviously with Cassie’s history. As you know, Cassie’s leaving us, and so it will contribute to her exit, which is going to be massive and quite explosive.
“It’ll be full of all the twists and turns that you can come to expect from an exit. He comes into the world of Fiz and Tyrone. Tyrone’s in the mindset of, I’m in my 40s, I’ve survived this long without a dad.

“The dad is very keen to connect with Tyrone. It’s not long before the dad makes eyes at one of the residents, and maybe a bit of a relationship starts there.
“It’s very domesticated. It really shines a spotlight on Fiz and Tyrone as a couple and that dynamic as a family. Cassie is, needless to say, not happy that this guy has turned back up.”

It’s not yet been confirmed what brings his dad into the show, and when the arrival will air. But according to Kate’s quotes, amid the drama with Cassie we will see the newcomer embarking on a possible romance with a mystery character on the show. Fans will just have to tune in to see where this goes!
