  • The Department for Energy Security and Net Zero has outlined 43 initial projects under a scheme offering energy bill discounts to households near new grid infrastructure.
  • Residents living within 500 metres of new or upgraded overhead transmission lines could save up to £2,500 on their electricity bills over a 10-year period.
  • Most eligible households will automatically receive the discount on their electricity bills every six months, starting in the first half of next year.
  • The scheme applies to approved overground transmission projects where main construction work began on or after 10 March 2025.
