Olly Murs has been a familiar face on British telly for nearly two decades, all while maintaining a thriving music career.

Since bursting onto the scene as runner-up to Joe McElderry on The X Factor in 2009, the Essex lad has churned out chart-toppers including Troublemaker, Heart Skips a Beat and Dance With Me Tonight.

The singer also stepped into presenting, briefly fronting the ITV talent show alongside his late pal Caroline Flack, before taking on other telly gigs such as coaching on The Voice UK and hosting Heart FM’s Saturday Breakfast Show with Mark Wright.

Yet beyond his musical talents and broadcasting prowess, his romantic endeavours have frequently captured public attention, particularly in the years leading up to his marriage to Amelia Tank three years ago.

Back in 2017, reports emerged linking Olly with former model and presenter Melanie Sykes. Despite their 14-year age difference, the pair were thought to have hit it off through their shared passion for fitness, reports OK!.

Sources told The Sun at the time that the two had enjoyed ‘a whole series of secret dates at his house where she will sometimes stay overnight.’

Though the pair were apparently keen to keep their ‘on and off’ romance private, speculation went into overdrive when she posted a picture with him on Instagram.

The backstage snap was accompanied by her caption: “Not much can get me out on a Saturday night, but this guy has!”

While neither ever publicly confirmed they were an item, Olly did discuss Mel during a Loose Women appearance in 2018. He told the panel: “Mel’s amazing…there might have been something.” Before adding: “I’m single, since the last time I checked, I’m definitely single. It’s just me in my bed alone.”

Olly’s romantic history first came under scrutiny during his stint on The X Factor back in 2009, when he crossed paths with fellow hopeful Laura Henderson at the show’s boot camp stage. Laura performed as part of girl group Project A, though her journey on the programme was short-lived.

Reports at the time suggested the duo chose to keep their budding romance under wraps, with insiders claiming Olly was ‘absolutely smitten with Laura’.

Two years down the line, he got down on one knee during a sun-soaked beach getaway in Cornwall. Chatting to Lorraine afterwards, he revealed: “Amelia has been planning our wedding day for years – what dress she’s going to do and all that.”

He continued: “For me, proposing was something I’d thought about for ages. ‘I wonder who that woman’s going to be, I wonder when it’s going to be and when I’m going to do it’.”

The couple have since become parents twice over – first welcoming daughter Madison in 2024, followed by son Archie who arrived last September.
