Afrobeats star, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has slammed the All Progressives Congress over what he described as attempts to stop progress in Osun State.
Davido made the remarks on Monday while reacting to the large crowd that turned out for the inauguration of the Lagere Flyover in Ile-Ife by his uncle, Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke.
The singer, who has consistently supported Adeleke and his administration, shared videos and comments from the inauguratiom on his X account.
Reacting to a video showing the crowd gathered for the event, Davido wrote, “Jesus, see Ile-Ife crowd!! For @AAdeleke_01!!! Done deal! You can’t stop God’s project!!”
In another post, the singer criticised the APC, questioning why the party would allegedly oppose projects in the state.

He wrote, “APC is just backward. Why would they be doing anything to stop progress? Thought y’all were progressives??”
Davido also appeared to mock the presence of influencers and supporters at the event, writing, “Belt to ass this weekend!!!! If you like, pay 100,000 influencers nah. Free hotel and food, dem come for.”
The posts came as Adeleke inaugurated the Lagere Flyover alongside the dualisation of the Mayfair Roundabout–Palace Junction Road in Ile-Ife.
The Lagere Flyover, located at the busy Lagere Junction, is one of the major infrastructure projects undertaken by the Adeleke administration in the ancient city.
The project was flagged off by Adeleke in May 2024 and was designed to ease traffic congestion around the Lagere area, a major commercial and transport hub linking several parts of Ile-Ife.
The project, which includes the flyover and associated road expansion and dualisation works, has been reported to cost about ₦14.9bn.
The road corridor connects the Lagere area towards Iremo Road and the axis leading to the Ooni of Ife’s Palace, with the wider project expected to improve traffic flow and connectivity within the city.
The inauguration attracted a large crowd of residents, supporters and other stakeholders, with videos from the event circulating widely on social media.
Davido’s comments come days before the August 15 Osun State governorship election, in which Adeleke is seeking re-election.
Adeleke, who is contesting under the Accord Party, faces the APC candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, and other candidates in the election.
Davido has openly supported his uncle’s political career and has frequently used his social media platforms to defend and promote Adeleke’s administration.
His latest comments therefore come as a continuation of his longstanding support for the governor rather than a new endorsement.
The Lagere Flyover is part of the Adeleke administration’s wider infrastructure programme, which includes road construction, road dualisation and the development of other major transport infrastructure across Osun State.
