Temitope Osoba repeatedly predicted her death, family recounts last moment

The family of late Nollywood actress, Temitope Osoba, has recounted her final moments, revealing that the actress repeatedly said she would die on the day she eventually passed away.
Osoba’s maternal aunt, Pejuola Ogunesan, disclosed this in an interview with actor Kunle Afod alongside another family member, Dupe, on Sunday.
According to Pejuola, Osoba told her at a police station that her fiancé, Prophet Itunu Onadeko, had told her that she would die that day.
The revelation came amid controversy over the circumstances surrounding the actress’ death, with Onadeko previously giving his own account of her final days.
Recounting the incident, Pejuola said she and Osoba had been estranged after the actress left Evercare Hospital, Lekki, in 2023 with Onadeko and actress Foluke Daramola while receiving treatment for breast cancer.
She said Osoba had accused the family of taking her phone away while she was preparing for surgery and subsequently blocked them.
She said, “When she called me that she was going to die that day, although we were not on good terms after she left Evercare Hospital in Lekki with her fiancé, Prophet Itunu Onadeko, and actress Foluke Daramola in 2023.
“She had told them that she didn’t want to see us because we collected her phone when she was supposed to focus on the surgery for her breast cancer.
“We tried calling her and discovered that she had blocked all of us. Since then, I swore never to have anything to do with her again. I called my elder sister, whom she had also called, and we headed for the police station where she was.”
Pejuola said Osoba identified her and her sister to the Divisional Police Officer as her aunties when they arrived at the station.
She said the actress was on her way to meet a prophetess, Kehinde Osoba, whom she regarded as family, after being advised to seek spiritual intervention for strange dreams she had been having, prompting her not to eat for days.
“She (Temitope) would complain of not being able to sleep, seeing monsters and the fiancé. Now that Aunty Peju is here, she would die. She mentioned that the fiancé had told her that they would post her obituary that day,” the aunt said.
Pejuola further alleged that Osoba jumped out of a vehicle after officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority stopped a vehicle ahead of them.
She said the actress told an official that she did not know where they were taking her and insisted that they should be taken to a police station.
The aunt alleged that Osoba subsequently told her that she had been humiliated, abused and made several allegations against Onadeko.
She claimed that Osoba told her that the prophet had multiple relationships with women and asked her to leave his home and pretend that they had broken up for two months, which eventually led her to stay with her hairstylist.
Pejuola also corroborated that Osoba told her she had suffered three miscarriages despite being warned not to become pregnant five years after her surgery.
She said the family later contacted the prophetess, whom Osoba intended to visit, but the woman reportedly asked them not to bring her to the church and promised to pick her up after her programme.
However, after waiting for several hours, the family reportedly found the church locked and could not reach the prophetess.
Pejuola said they subsequently took Osoba to another church, where prayers were offered for her after she became distressed.
“She was just saying that the guy said she would die today,” she added.
According to her, Osoba later stayed with the family, but her condition deteriorated.
She said the actress made a social media post titled “Ogo tuntun” (new glory), sent messages to several people and complained that she was uncomfortable.
When her condition worsened, Pejuola said the family took her to the hospital.
She said they were referred to the Ogun State University Teaching Hospital, but Osoba died just some minutes after they got to the hospital.
“When we got there, they referred us to OSUTH. Suddenly, she just defecated in the car. Her head suddenly dropped. Before we could get to the emergency, she was confirmed dead,” she said.
The family’s account comes days after Osoba’s fiancé, Onadeko, spoke about the circumstances surrounding her death, disputing some claims that had emerged following her demise, especially that she died at the police station.
The conflicting accounts have raised questions about the actress’ final movements, her relationship with those around her and what happened in the hours before her death.
Osoba, who featured in several Nollywood productions, died at the age of 40.
Her burial is scheduled to hold in Iperu-Remo, Ogun State, with family members, colleagues and friends expected to attend.
