  • Radio Caroline has been found to have breached Ofcom rules after accidentally broadcasting an announcement that King Charles III had died.
  • The error occurred during The Barry Marsh Show in May when a staff member played restricted files out of curiosity, followed by the national anthem and 16 minutes of silence.
  • Media regulator Ofcom ruled that the station breached accuracy rules and failed to correct the significant error quickly enough on air.
  • Ofcom noted that the clarification took around 30 minutes to broadcast after the presenter panicked and left the premises.
  • Radio Caroline confirmed the responsible staff member had been reprimanded and apologised, and the sensitive files have been removed from the studio computer.
