Oyo APC backs Oyebamiji for victory

The All Progressives Congress in Oyo State has called on Osun voters to elect its governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, in the Saturday election.
The party said the election provided an opportunity for the people of Osun State to change the leadership of the state and install what it described as a more competent and accountable administration.
The Oyo APC made the call in a statement issued by its Publicity Secretary, Olawale Sadare, in Ibadan on Sunday.
It cited quality leadership, effective representation and equitable distribution of resources as reasons voters should support the APC candidate.
The party alleged that the current administration in Osun had failed to meet the expectations of residents, accusing it of wastefulness, nepotism and poor governance.
The APC said, “Osun voters should save their state from charlatans and comedians who have been in the saddle for close to four years, with only the record of wastefulness, nepotism and brigandage to show.”
The party also compared the situations in Osun and Oyo states, alleging that both states had suffered from poor leadership since the emergence of their current administrations.
It said, “Osun State is worse hit because its residents and indigenes have had to contend with the reality of having an incompetent leader at the helm of affairs.
“It is quite sad that a state which harbours a university with a global reputation for excellence and Africa’s most beautiful campus is being governed by a mere dance freak.”
The Oyo APC further alleged that residents of Osun had become divided along various lines, while accusing the state government of lopsided distribution of appointments and infrastructure.
The party also alleged that the governors of Osun and Oyo states had poor relationships with their counterparts in the South-West geopolitical zone because of political differences.
However, it said the August 15 election offered Osun residents an opportunity to elect a leader capable of uniting the people and accelerating development in the state.
The party described Oyebamiji as “the ideal man for the job,” saying he was prepared to fulfil his campaign promises if elected.
It added, “Enough of sponsored violence, brigandage and crime surge in Osun State. An APC government will restore peace, accountability in governance and accelerated development in Osun.”
