The Inter-Party Advisory Council, IPAC, has denied reports that its Osun State chapter election has been relocated from the state to Abuja.
The clarification was contained in a rejoinder dated August 6, 2026, and signed by the National Organising Secretary of IPAC, Chinyere Ogekalu.
Ogekalu said the attention of her office had been drawn to a purported circular signed by Aare Adekunle Rufai Omoaje, National Chairman of the Action Alliance, announcing the relocation of the Osun IPAC election to the council’s national headquarters in Abuja.
She described the circular as unauthorised, saying it did not emanate from the appropriate authority of IPAC and had no official or constitutional backing.
“For the avoidance of doubt, at no time was any decision taken by the relevant organs of IPAC to relocate the Osun State Chapter election purportedly scheduled for 8th August 2026 to Abuja or any other location outside Osun State,” the statement said.
The National Organising Secretary said any claim suggesting that the election had been moved outside Osun State was “misleading, unauthorised, and capable of causing unnecessary confusion among stakeholders”.
According to her, “The IPAC constitution vested the National Organising Secretary’s office with responsibility for planning, coordinating and conducting state chapter elections, in consultation with relevant organs of the council.”
Ogekalu stated that no individual or external office had the authority to unilaterally alter or relocate approved electoral arrangements.
She therefore urged all state chairmen of registered political parties in Osun State, contestants and other stakeholders to disregard the purported circular.
She added that “the conduct of the Osun State IPAC election, whenever decided, would be communicated through the appropriate official channels.£
The clarification comes as political parties and other stakeholders in Osun State prepare for the state’s governorship election scheduled for August 15, 2026, with IPAC activities expected to involve representatives of registered political parties.
Also, the council has appointed a caretaker committee for Osun State led by Odesola Oluseye Titus, the Action Peoples Party, APP, chairman in the state.
Meanwhile, a faction has arisen within the Osun IPAC led by Tosin Odeyemi of the Democratic Leadership Alliance, DLA.
