Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has vowed to accelerate renewable energy deployment in the state in collaboration with the Federal Government.

Otti disclosed this when a delegation from the Rural Electrification Agency, REA and other federal agencies visited the Abia State Government House on Thursday.

He pledged to resolve outstanding operational delays and activate existing agreements with the Federal Government for the benefit of the people of the state.

“Just watch us and see what will happen in the next 14 days. You can be sure that you will hear from us within the next 14 days, and the lowest-hanging fruit is this initiative covering ten states,” he said.

In his remarks, the Managing Director of REA, Abba Aliyu, revealed that the Federal Government had mapped the entire country to identify communities requiring rural electrification.

He disclosed that 1,000 mini-grids were currently being deployed across various states by the Federal Government to tackle electricity supply challenges.

DAILY POST reports that the Abia State House of Assembly had lamented the blackout in parts of the state over a gas supply shortage affecting Aba Power Limited.
