Nigerian woman welcomes baby after 14 years of marriage

A Nigerian woman, Abigail Martins, and her husband have welcomed their first child after 14 years of marriage.
Abigail announced the birth of her baby in a Facebook post on Thursday, sharing maternity photos and expressing gratitude to God for what she described as the end of a long journey of waiting.
Reflecting on the years she spent hoping for a child, she recounted some of the hurtful labels and comments she endured.
She wrote, “I thought when this day comes I am going write a very long epistle of Thanksgiving… Hmm, my words have failed me apparently.
“For 14 years I have been labelled… Barren woman wey don chop all her children for womb. Witch. Unserious woman that is unserious to have children. Some even said, ‘She no wan spoil her shape that’s why she no wan born for her husband.’
“‘Abigail, if you gift all your trousers to charity, God will give you children.’”
Celebrating the arrival of her baby, she added, “Make una see the barren woman don born pikin oooo. Join me and thank this great God that answered my prayers after 14 years of marriage.”
She also encouraged women still trusting God for children not to lose hope.
“TTC mothers, if God can do it for me, He can do it for you. DO NOT LOSE FAITH,” she wrote.
