Governor Ahmadu Fintiri has pledged the prompt issuance of a Certificate of Occupancy for the 10 Division of the Nigerian Army, which is to be located in Adamawa State.
The 10 Division is expected to serve both Adamawa and Taraba states.
Fintiri made the commitment on Thursday while receiving a delegation from the Nigerian Army Headquarters led by Major General Ime Basi.
The governor, who described the creation of the new division as a significant step towards improving rapid response to emerging threats, announced that all necessary documentation, including the issuance of a Certificate of Occupancy, would be completed within two weeks to facilitate the construction of structures for the new military facility.
Speaking earlier, Ime Basi, who represented the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, said the new division would increase troop presence in strategic areas and enhance the protection of lives and property in Adamawa and Taraba states.
Basi appealed for the provision of temporary land for the immediate deployment of troops while permanent barracks and operational facilities are being established.
