The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Jigawa State Command, has confirmed the drowning of a 15-year-old boy, Isah Muhammad, at a pond popularly known as Sterling Pond along Disina Road in Dutse Local Government Area.
The Public Relations Officer of the NSCDC Jigawa State Command, ASC Badruddeen Tijjani Mahmud, disclosed this in a statement. He said the incident occurred on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at about 4:30 p.m., when the command received a distress call reporting that the victim, a resident of Bokoto Quarters, Dutse, had drowned in the pond.
According to the statement, upon receiving the report, NSCDC personnel from the Takur Site Division immediately mobilised to the scene and evacuated the victim to the General Hospital, Dutse, where a medical doctor confirmed him dead.
Following the confirmation of his death, the remains of the deceased were released to his family for burial in accordance with Islamic rites.
The State Commandant of the NSCDC Jigawa State Command, Commandant Muhammad Kabiru Ingawa, expressed his heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased and prayed that Allah would grant the departed eternal rest and give the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
