Real Madrid forward, Vinicius Jr, has shared insights regarding his very first discussion with the club’s boss, Jose Mourinho, amid ongoing rumors about his potential departure from the club. 

He revealed that the manager encouraged him to preserve his unique style and to always remain joyful.

Vinicius’ future with Los Blancos remains uncertain due to a contract impasse.

The 26-year-old is in the concluding year of his contract and will become a free agent next summer if he does not agree to a contract extension.

Arsenal has been heavily linked with the Brazilian winger and is reportedly prepared to invest significantly to bring him to the Premier League.

Despite the ongoing speculation regarding his future, Vinicius has returned to Real Madrid’s Valdebebas training complex to participate in pre-season preparations.

The Real Madrid star came back from vacation earlier this week following a remarkable performance at the 2026 FIFA World Cup with Brazil and had a meeting with Mourinho. 

Reflecting on his encounter with the new manager, Vinicius stated (via Madrid Zone on X), “Jose Mourinho told me that he wants me to be like how I always am, happy, cheerful, and to keep playing my style of football.”

Mourinho has reportedly communicated to the club his desire for Vinicius Jr to remain at Santiago Bernabeu. 

The Brazilian has been a key player for the past few seasons, and his departure would represent a huge setback for Real Madrid.
