The aggressive push by Republicans to question Dr. Anthony Fauci — first in a fiery hearing last week in the Senate, now with a potential contempt vote — could have an unexpected upside. Top GOP figures have books about Fauci that could get a bump in sales.

Following Fauci’s testimony, in which he repeatedly invoked the Fifth Amendment to remain silent, Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. immediately promoted his Fauci book from 2021 on X, claiming Americans were “tired of the lies and they wanted their freedom back.”

Senator Paul, who has led the charge in accusing Fauci of covering up a potential lab leak origin story for Covid, has not taken the same overt approach, though the Republican has a Fauci book of his own, 2023’s Deception: The Great Covid Cover-up.

The Independent has contacted Kennedy, Paul and the publisher of both books for comment.

Kennedy may have enjoyed a brief spike in sales.

“Once again the most censored book in recent history is one of the bestselling books in America,” according to Tony Lyons, president of Kennedy’s publisher, Skyhorse, and president of MAHA Action, a pro-Kennedy political group, told the MAHA Report last week.

The book briefly shot up to number 52 on the Amazon bestseller list, Lyons claimed, though the book is now no longer in the top 100 best-selling books on the site. It remains number one in categories such as immunology, vaccinations and virology, according to Amazon.

Lyons told The New York Times that royalties from the book went to Children’s Health Defense, the anti-pollution and anti-vax non-profit that Kennedy founded.

In a 2025 filing, Kennedy disclosed more than $450,000 in consulting fees from Skyhorse.

Paul, meanwhile, disclosed about $90,000 in royalties from his Fauci book in 2024, which now shares a publisher with Kennedy thanks to a 2023 acquisition.

Of course, Dr. Fauci is also a published author.

His memoir, 2024’s On Call, is a top-10 seller on Amazon in such categories as viral diseases, communicable diseases, and medical professional biographies.

Republicans have criticized the official for winning a $1 million prize from the Israel-based Dan David Foundation for “defending science.” (Government ethics officials allowed Fauci to keep the prize.)
