With campaigns beginning August 19, the APC is considering Hope Uzodimma and Tanko Al-Makura to head Tinubu’s re-election bid, while Atiku Abubakar’s ADC has settled on Aminu Tambuwal as frontrunner for campaign DG.
The Labour Party said its DG was in place but unnamed, while the SDP, NNPP, and NDC said their structures would be unveiled before the INEC deadline.

2. 30 years after Atlanta gold, I’m yet to be rewarded — Bonfrère Jo
Dutch coach Bonfrère, who led Nigeria’s Dream Team to Olympic gold at Atlanta 1996, says he has received no recognition or reward from the Nigerian government three decades on.
The 80-year-old also revealed that the gold medal he was given after the historic win was stolen by a team official.

3. Storm over fake agency probe as Reps prepare final report
The House committee probing the controversial Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council is nearing its final report amid criticism that committee chairman Yusuf Gagdi, who filed the original motion, should not be leading the probe.
Civil society group CISLAC also faulted the panel for failing to question Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, who was accused of receiving N400m through a deceased proxy.

4. Labour gives FG Aug 11 ultimatum over wage award
The Joint National Public Service Negotiating Council has warned Finance Minister Taiwo Oyedele to convene a meeting by August 11 or risk industrial action.
Workers are demanding the payment of two months’ outstanding wage award and implementation of an approved 40 per cent peculiar allowance — both of which the ministry has not responded to despite two previous letters.

5. Tinubu to review state police bill Sept 3
President Tinubu will receive the Executive National Policing Bill on September 3, after which it will be transmitted to the National Assembly. Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila said a public portal had gone live for Nigerians to submit memoranda, while warning that state police must not become an instrument of political persecution.

6. FG fine on sponsor forced ‘Who Wants To Be A Millionaire’ off air — Frank Edoho
Frank Edoho has revealed that a Federal Government regulatory fine on the show’s sponsor was what pulled Who Wants To Be A Millionaire off air — not a sacking as widely reported.
He said the sponsor’s withdrawal after a decade ended the show’s run, while his own absence from the relaunch stemmed from a breakdown in executive producer negotiations.

7. ‘We’ll spare you, kill your children’: Kaduna community recounts midnight horror
At least 30 people were killed when gunmen stormed Naridon community in Kauru LGA of Kaduna State at about 11:55 p.m. on Sunday.
Five siblings from the same family were among the dead, with attackers reportedly warning their parents they would be spared.
Tinubu condemned the attack and directed security agencies to track down perpetrators.

8. Portable taunts Okocha with diss track after boxing rematch
Portable has released a diss track mocking Nollywood actor Charles Okocha and the officiating after being disqualified from their celebrity boxing rematch in Lagos.
The fight descended into a brawl that security had to break up, with Portable leaving the ring before the result could be declared.
