Charlotte Flair got candid about the difficulties of dating amid her grueling WWE schedule.

“My balance right now is putting myself first,” Flair, 40, exclusively told Us ahead of WWE SummerSlam. “I’ve always been in a relationship and, yes, I’m a hopeless romantic at heart and I want my fairytale ending.”

Flair got divorced from former WWE star Andrade, real name Manuel Alfonso Andrade Oropeza,  in October 2024 after two years of marriage.

“Dating is hard on the road,” she admitted. “I have a very, very small circle. I have a lot of acquaintances, but I have the same five girls I text every day. I make sure that I nourish those [relationships] and I don’t spread myself thin. At the end of the day, all that you have is your family and friends. You’re not going to get to wrestle forever.”

Flair continued, “Part of being a WWE superstar is investing in yourself. I really love my craft and right now are my prime years.”

The 14-time world champion will get a chance to prove that her investment has paid off during Night 2 of WWE’s SummerSlam on Sunday, August 2, when she competes against Jade Cargill, Tiffany Stratton, Lash Legend and Chelsea Green in a ladder match for the interim WWE women’s championship.

A focal point of the match will be Flair’s tense rivalry with Cargill, 34, who has become a lightning rod of debate and discussion for both devoted fans and wrestlers inside the WWE locker room.

“I think when it comes to women, sometimes it’s easier for them to be pinpointed as catty or not, but Jade’s a queen bee,” Flair said. “She’s a bad ass that looks like a star, walks like a star, talks like a star. However, it’s one thing to mess with me. You can’t mess with my best friend [and tag team partner], Alexa Bliss. Jade has my attention. I will be her biggest obstacle in that ladder match.”

When the bell rings on Sunday night, Flair warned viewers to brace for destruction.

“I think people who aren’t wrestling fans don’t realize those ladders are steel,” she explained. “At any time, one of them can hurt you. Something can go wrong. It’s five women going for the title that’s hanging over that ladder; and the athleticism it takes, the grit it takes, how painful the ladders can be to keep going.”

Flair continued, “What I have on my side is experience. But at the same time, I’ve been a part of seven SummerSlams. I’ve won six. Now that I have the opportunity to fight for the world title since my last opportunity at WrestleMania 41 [in April 2025], I feel like I have a lot to prove.”

Night 2 of WWE SummerSlam goes down Sunday, August 2, at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, streaming live at 6 p.m. ET on ESPN+.
