The Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has urged intending pilgrims from the state to conduct themselves responsibly during the 2026 Hajj exercise and project a positive image of Kano State and Nigeria in Saudi Arabia.

The governor made the appeal during a practical demonstration exercise organised for intending pilgrims at the Hajj Camp in Kano.

This was contained in a statement issued on Sunday by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mustapha Muhammad.

Represented by the Deputy Governor, Murtala Garo, Yusuf said pilgrims should see themselves as ambassadors of the state and Islam during their stay in the Holy Land.

“You are going to a land where millions of Muslims from all over the world will gather. Let your conduct reflect discipline, humility, brotherhood and the true spirit of Islam,” the governor said.

He urged the pilgrims to obey the laws of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and comply with instructions from officials coordinating the pilgrimage exercise.

The governor also “donated 200 Saudi Riyals to each pilgrim, a way of showing concern to the plights of the pilgrims at the Holy Land.”

In addition, Yusuf donated free Ihram materials to all pilgrims from the state.

During the event, the deputy governor distributed samples of the Ihram materials to some of the beneficiaries at the Hajj Camp.

Speaking earlier, the Director-General of the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Abubakar Matawalle, commended the governor for supporting the board and the intending pilgrims.

He disclosed that, despite several challenges encountered during preparations for the pilgrimage, the board successfully met the requirements for securing visas for pilgrims from the state.

Matawalle added that the first batch of Kano pilgrims would depart for Madinah on May 14, 2026.
