105-year-old reveals her secret to a long and happy life

  • Mary Davidson Smith, a resident at Care UK’s Murrayside care home in Edinburgh, celebrated her 105th birthday.
  • She received 105 cards from across the globe, following an appeal by the care home, with some travelling from as far as Singapore.
  • Ms Smith holds the rare distinction of receiving a card from King Charles, having previously received one from the late Queen Elizabeth.
  • When asked for her secret to a long and happy life, she said: “I enjoy it – keep on going.”
  • Born in Korea, Ms Smith recently reunited with a special Korean outfit she wore as a young girl almost 100 years ago during a private tour of the National Museum of Scotland.
