Labour MP calls for cabinet members to challenge Starmer’s leadership
- Former minister Catherine West has declared she will challenge Sir Keir Starmer for the Labour leadership if a cabinet minister does not do so by Monday.
- Ms West has set a two-day deadline for the cabinet to “reorganise themselves” and potentially replace Sir Keir.
- She currently has 10 pledges of support but is confident of securing the 81 required to trigger a leadership contest.
- Ms West suggested Sir Keir Starmer could take on an “international roles” to allow new leadership to emerge.
- The Labour MP for Hornsey and Friern Barnet previously called for Sir Keir’s resignation and has held various shadow ministerial positions.
