Amusing Commonwealth Games signs spotted along the Clyde by anonymous Glaswegian artist
The hilarious signs perfectly captured Glasgow’s humour ahead of the Commonwealth Games

As the 2026 Commonwealth Games gets underway in Glasgow, a local street artist known as A Sign of Humour has placed a series of amusing road signs along the river Clyde in honour of the international sporting event being held in Scotland.
The mysterious artist has previously left Glaswegians in stitches with their unusual parody signs which mimic the traditional road and warning signs.
While they appear to be legitimate from afar, upon closer look these lighthearted signs poke fun at everything from popular culture to the city’s own landmarks.
Now that the Commonwealth Games has returned to the city for the first time since 2014, the anonymous Glasgow artist, who has been hailed as the city’s own Banksy, has released a collection of new Scottish themed signs to celebrate the games.
The designs combine the sports featured in the Commonwealth Games paired with the Glaswegian tendency to not take things too seriously and our love of placing traffic road cones on everything, especially when drunk.
Sharing a post to their official A Sign of Humour page on Facebook, it read: “To mark the upcoming 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, I’ve put up a series of signs along walkway on Clyde Street featuring uniquely Glaswegian versions of some of the sports the games will feature. I’ll post these over the next few days, but the first one is Athletics.”
Those who enjoy this art can purchase either a mounted copy of all the signs in one or a limited edition tote bag with the six designs from the A Sign of Humour website here. However they will need to be fast as only 30 of each design available.

Cycling sign
The cycling sign shows a doodle of a Scots cyclist infront of the competition with a traffic cone on its head and a trusty bottle of emergency Buckfast attached to the side of the bike to keep them going

Gymnastics sign
The gymnastics sign depicts a doodle figure flying through the air upside down off a springboard. Of course his traffic cone hat is still intact and bottle of Buckfast is in hand

Boxing sign
The boxing sign depicts two drunken Scots fighting one another with the right hand man knocking the left’s traffic cone hat right off his head while numerous bottles of Buckfast surround them

The swimming sign shows the Scottish doodle man cannon balling into the water with his traffic cone hat on and the tonic wine bottle left safely to the side

Athletics sign
The Athletics sign was the first one to be created in A Sign of Humour’s Commonwealth Games collection. The road traffic poster depicts a Scots runner, again with a cone on its head and a bottle of Buckfast in hand, running ahead of the other athletes

A Sign of Humour also made sure to represent the Para Athletes taking part in the Games with their own sign. Similarly to the Athletics one, it shows a traffic coned Scot running ahead of everyone else with their Buckfast in hand
