A five-piece extreme metal band from Wishaw is preparing to take its music to audiences across the globe as it releases its debut album through international record labels.
BrainBath will release HeadHunted on 7 August with the album arriving on vinyl via Macho Records and on CD through Memento Mori, giving the North Lanarkshire band worldwide distribution.
Recorded at Scotland’s Deep Storm Productions and mastered by acclaimed producer Arthur Rizk, HeadHunted marks the culmination of several years of writing, recording and refining the band’s distinctive brand of death metal.
The group has also unveiled its debut single and official music video, Brained, ahead of the album launch.
To celebrate the release, BrainBath will return to home soil for a special hometown album launch show in Glasgow on 11 September, sharing the stage with international acts Repuked, Death Collector and Grave Ghoul.
For guitarist and songwriter Kenneth “Kendo” Woods, the milestone is about more than releasing an album – it is about representing Wishaw and Motherwell on an international stage.
“We’ve spent years writing and recording HeadHunted, so seeing it finally being released worldwide is something we’re incredibly proud of,” said Woods.
“We’re proud to be flying the flag for Wishaw and Motherwell, and it’s exciting to see where this journey is taking us. As far as we’re aware, there hasn’t been a death metal band from our area to reach this stage with international record deals and worldwide distribution, so it’s a real milestone for us.
“We really appreciated the opportunity to share our story – none of us have ever done anything like this before, so it’s been a brilliant experience. Hopefully it’s a story people will enjoy, and if it inspires even one local band to believe they can achieve something similar, that would mean a lot to us.”
Provost Kenneth Duffy met up with the band recently during a rehearsal in Cambusnethan. He praised the band’s achievement and the recognition it brings to North Lanarkshire.
“BrainBath’s success demonstrates the creativity, ambition and talent that exists across North Lanarkshire. Reaching an international audience while proudly representing Wishaw is a tremendous achievement, and I congratulate the band on this exciting milestone. I wish them every success with the release of HeadHunted and their hometown launch show,” he said.
The band’s debut single, Brained, has already introduced listeners to the intense sound that has attracted attention from underground metal fans worldwide, while HeadHunted is expected to further establish BrainBath within the international extreme metal scene.
Although death metal remains a niche genre, BrainBath’s journey from rehearsing in Wishaw to securing international record label support highlights the growing reach of Scotland’s independent music scene.
