Khamzat Chimaev will be putting his middleweight title on the line for the first time against Sean Strickland later this evening.
‘Borz’ picked up the middleweight strap after beating Dricus du Plessis via unanimous decision at UFC 319 back in August. The undefeated UFC star has largely been unstoppable since making his professional debut back in 2018. Already, the 32-year-old has picked up wins over the likes of Robert Whittaker, Kamaru Usman and Gilbert Burns in the UFC.
But Strickland will not go down without a fight. The contentious American star – and former middleweight champion – earned his second crack at a world title after knocking out Anthony Hernandez earlier this year. Both Strickland and Chimaev have a bit of history, having sparred each other. Ever since their clash was announced, both have traded verbal jabs on multiple occasions, with fans very much excited to see how it will al unfold tonight. In the co-main event, Joshua Van will defend his flyweight title for the first time against Japanese submission artist, Tatsuro Taira. And so, here is everything you need to know ahead of tonight’s fights…
Tonight’s UFC card will take place at Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, United States. The early prelims will get underway at 10pm UK time (5pm ET / 2pm PT / 4pm CT), with the regular prelims scheduled to start at 12am UK time on Sunday (7pm ET / 4pm PT / 6pm CT). The main card will begin at 2am UK time on Sunday (9pm ET / 6pm PT / 8pm CT). In the main event Strickland will likely make the walk to the cage first at around 4am UK time on Sunday (11pm ET / 8pm PT / 10pm CT), with Chimaev set to follow immediately after. The timings of all fights are subject to change and will depend on how long the undercard takes to complete.
Fans watching in the United Kingdom will be able to watch the action live on TNT Sports – which is also accessible via Discovery+, EE TV, Virgin Media, Amazon Prime Video, and Sky Sports, while those watching in the US will be able to stream the event live on Paramount+.
