Kelechi Iheanacho has revealed the reason behind his surprise transfer to Turkish second tier club Bursaspor.

Iheanacho linked up with Bursaspor on a free transfer last week despite keen interest from Scottish Premiership champions Celtic.

The forward impressed during his stay at Celtic last season, scoring vital goals to help the Hoops win a domestic double.

Iheanacho, however, failed to reach agreement with Martin O’Neill’s side on a contract extension.

The Nigeria international signed a three-year contract with the Bursaspor.

The 29-year-old said he was attracted by the club’s ambition.

“When I heard the project they have and how they want to go all the way to the Super League and to play in Europe as well, I said this is a big project and it’s very good for me to come and be involved and help the team,” Iheanacho told the club’s official website.
