Kayden Moy’s dad told how the friends and families of his son’s killers smiled and laughed as they entered the courtroom.

Relatives of 16-year-old Kayden gathered at the High Court in Glasgow to see the teenage killers jailed for his murder.

Dad Paul Moy said: “We were waiting to go to the courthouse and I saw a relative of one of the killers walking up the stairs. He was smiling and laughing at us.

“I knew we were in for a difficult time when we got inside.”

He claims family members shouted and swore at the Moy family during the sentencing hearing.

“Their family members tried to intimidate us,” he continued.

“They were shouting and swearing throughout it.

“I’ve sat through a trial for three weeks and never said a word.

“Anger got the better of me. I’ll admit I replied a few times.”

Jay Stewart, 19, Cole Turley, 18 and a 15-year-old – who cannot be named for legal reasons – were locked up for life.

When the sentencing was read out, police officers in the court had to separate both sides of the public gallery.

Paul continued: “The killers are rotten to the core.

“Everyone in East Kilbride knew about them before their names appeared in the press.

“We saw what their families were like in court. They never stood a chance in life.”

Flanked by loved ones, Paul bravely read a statement on behalf of Kayden’s parents outside of court following the hearing.

He said: “This is the life sentence our family has been given.

“One moment of violence has destroyed so many lives, and no family should ever have to endure the pain that we now live with every day.

“While today’s outcome brings a measure of justice, it does not bring peace. It does not bring our son back.”
