Former Real Madrid manager, Zinedine Zidane, has signed a long term contract to become the new head coach of France.
Zidane is now set to officially succeed Didier Deschamps in the role.
Deschamp’s last match in charge of Les Bleus, was the third-place play-off defeat to England at the 2026 World Cup.
His departure had long been confirmed, with Zidane also having a verbal agreement with the French Football Federation, FFF, since November 2025.
Football transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, wrote on X: “Zinedine Zidane has already signed his long term contract as new France head coach.
“Verbal agreement in place since November, never been in doubt or at risk despite clubs calling.
“Zizou is back.”
