Sweet treat recalled at Aldi over potential glass contamination
Botulism, listeria, and recalls: How recalls work
Aldi has recalled over 2,800 cases of its Specially Selected Vanilla Crème Brûlée due to potential contamination with pieces of glass.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) elevated this to a Class II recall on April 28, indicating that consuming the dessert poses a serious health risk.
The affected crème brûlée, packaged in 3.6-ounce glass jars with a use-by date of May 9, 2026, was sold in Aldi stores across seven states, including Florida, Illinois and Virginia.
Consumers are urged to either dispose of the dessert immediately or return it to the place of purchase for a full refund, despite no illnesses being reported.
This recall follows other recent food safety alerts, including salmonella-risk dry milk powder in various pizzas sold at Aldi and Walmart, and mislabeled shrimp pasta at Costco, posing an allergy risk.
