The Angwan Durun-Uwa community in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State was on Thursday thrown into panic and confusion following the discovery of the headless body of a young woman in a sack at a refuse dump.
A youth leader in the community, Gomex Iliya, who confirmed the strange finding to DAILY POST in a telephone chat, said some residents who had gone to dispose of refuse at the site discovered the decomposing body of the beheaded woman, who could not be immediately identified.
“We were woken up by an alarming and shocking discovery of the beheaded body of a woman at a dump site in Angwan Durun-Uwa,” Iliya said.
“I was called by one of my executive members informing me that a body had been abandoned at the refuse site. I immediately rushed down to the refuse site, where I also saw the headless body, which was tied in a sack.
“The body was already decomposing, which means it could have been dumped days earlier.
“We immediately alerted the police, who dispatched a team to the scene, and the body was evacuated. We are hoping that the police will commence an investigation to determine the identity of the victim and track down those responsible for the killing,” Iliya stated.
Efforts to obtain confirmation from the spokesperson of the Plateau State Police Command, SP Alfred Alabo, were futile as he did not respond to calls nor reply to text messages as of the time of filing this report.
