Fleeing suspect jumps into sea and doggy-paddles for over an hour before being captured
- A wanted suspect tried to get away from police Thursday by jumping into the ocean and doggy-paddling away from cops.
- Los Angeles police started chasing the man, who was wanted for an undisclosed felony, at about 7:15 a.m. Thursday.
- In a bid for freedom, he hopped into the ocean about 100 yards off Will Rogers State Beach but quickly found himself surrounded by lifeguards’ and sheriff’s department boats.
- Despite dog-paddling for well over an hour, he was fished from Santa Monica Bay and taken into custody at around 9:15 a.m.
- Two lifeguards on paddle boards were on either side of the man as he bobbed in the water and deputies with the L.A. County Sheriff’s Marina del Rey Station reeled the bare- bottomed suspect onto their vessel around 9:15 a.m.
