Former Minister of Youth and Sports, Solomon Dalung, has called for a thorough, impartial and transparent investigation into the death of Mary Habila, who was reportedly found dead at the Abuja residence of the Minister of Works, David Umahi.
Reacting to the incident in a statement via his social media page, Dalung questioned what he described as unequal treatment in the administration of justice, asking whether public officials were above the law.
“If the naked body of the Minister of Works’ daughter had been found in the home of a poor Nigerian, can you imagine what would be happening by now?
“Yet, Mary Habila was reportedly found dead in the residence of Nigeria’s Minister of Works, and the Minister continues to walk freely while many questions remain unanswered.
“Do ministers in Nigeria enjoy immunity, or has impunity become the rule? Are public officials truly equal before the law?
“Or does the life of an ordinary Nigerian simply not matter?
“Justice must not depend on status, wealth, or political influence. Every life has equal value, and every suspicious death deserves a thorough, impartial, and transparent investigation,” he stated.
