Flying Eagles head coach Abdu Maikaba has said his side must work hard to excel at the WAFU B U-20 Championship, DAILY POST reports.
The sub-regional tournament will serve as qualifier for the 2027 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations.
Hosts Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Burkina Faso, Benin Republic, Togo, and Niger Republic are the other countries that will be participating in the competition.
Maikaba is however confident his team will excel at the competition.
“I have great confidence in this squad’s potential, but talent alone will not guarantee success,” Maikaba wrote on X.
“To compete against some of West Africa’s youth teams, my players must combine their ability with discipline, hard work, and a winning mentality.”
The Flying Eagles have won the last two editions of the tournament.
They defeated Ghana 2-1 in the final of the competition two years ago in Lome, Togo.
